There is something fascinating about being able to see new things without having to make a determination about its marketability. So brace yourself, this is unfiltered, raw, and hot off the press. So what is being tracked in 2010 are: Comfort ­ People are seeking a refuge in their home today. So things that bring us heritage such as worn, vintage or handcrafted looks are on the rise. Exotic Travel ­ People may not travel to faraway lands but their desire to is influencing the styles from animal skins to ocean views and from the Mediterranean to the Eastern safari. Organic ­ A backlash from high-tech has the market stepping outside to look for inspiration; whether it is a garden with butterflies and flowers or twigs, shells, or even leaves. Birds also seem to be a particularly hot item this market. Colorful ­ Bright colors are being added to rooms for some pop. Turquoise remains strong as well as the lime greens. The introduction of plums and greys we are seeing is an even a bigger story this fall for the neutral palette. Patterns ­ Concentric circles, repetitive patterns and stripes as well as geometric shapes. Finishes ­ Scraped, worn-waxed, metallic sheens, or bare wood.
